Challenge

Operating a global biorepository network that safeguards irreplaceable biologic assets brings significant operational challenges:

  • Complex Infrastructure: Multiple locations of maintaining various on-premises solutions on their own servers leading to siloed data and inconsistent visibility and support challenges.
  • Slow Data Access: Responding to customer and regulatory requests often required compiling years of historical data, a time-consuming and resource-intensive process.
  • Ongoing Maintenance Burden: Each site had to support its own servers, applications, and updates, increasing costs and operational risk.

Solution

FacilityConneX partnered with Amphenol/Kaye Instruments to develop a new GxP-compliant cloud solution, LabWatch IoT, in collaboration with Thermo Fisher, to modernize biorepository operations through a centralized, cloud-based platform. The solution included:

  • Centralized Monitoring: Unified system to track environmental controls and conditions across all facilities in real time.
  • Instant Access to Historical Data: On-demand reporting capabilities that eliminated delays in customer and compliance requests.
  • Reduced IT Burden: Cloud delivery removed the need for on-site server maintenance and software patching.
  • Scalable Infrastructure: The platform seamlessly supports growth across new sites and assets without additional IT complexity.

How FacilityConneX Helped

FacilityConneX elevated Thermo Fisher’s Biorepository division with:

  • Reliable Long-Term Oversight: Continuous monitoring of critical environments to ensure sample integrity.
  • Faster Customer & Compliance Response: Real-time dashboards and automated reporting that streamlined stakeholder access to data.
  • Operational Efficiency Gains: Significant time savings by eliminating manual data pulls and server upkeep.
  • Enhanced Data Confidence: A single source of truth for environmental control data across the entire biorepository network.

Summary

Organization: Thermo Fisher Scientific – Biorepository Division
Platform Implemented: FacilityConneX Smart Building & Environmental Monitoring
Duration: Ongoing, across multiple global locations
Key Benefits: Centralized visibility, instant data access, reduced IT burden, improved compliance readiness, and strengthened customer trust.

Results at a Glance
